3. How can you teach students the skills they need to perform higher-order thinking when they create projects? What types of questions, prompts, and scaffolds can you use to encourage students to think deeply and to not just find copy-and-paste answers?

  • Teachers should model/guide students through various concept related problems.
  • Teachers should ask leading questions, such as "How do you know that?"
  • Teachers should avoid closed ended questions and should instead use questions that provoke discussion.
  • Teachers should help students by guiding them through applying knowledge/thinking through a problem. This will help students to get to the end goal without "cookbook instructions" and rote memorization.
  • Teachers could provide students with opportunities in which they think deeply about a solution and ultimately develop the original problem.
